Chair Guests

Dear Chair Guest,

welcome at the Chair of Connected Mobility at TUM!
During your stay you have the option to use a couple of services. Some of the services have requirements as special accounts, etc. This page should give you some overview on what is required for each service. At the lower section of this page there is the guest application form. It would be nice if you can fill it out. If you have further questions regarding this page or anything else ask your chair contact person or write us an E-Mail.

Account Overview

You should read this section before proceeding!!
Services can be split into three account levels:

NO: Only credentials need to be created for the individual service, no additional account is required
TUM: For those services a TUM account is required.
IN.TUM: To use these services you need an in.tum account.

Account Application

TUM (Tumonline / LRZ)
- Application: Usually automatically requested when the guest contract is signed. Otherwise contact the Chair secretary.
- Notes: This account is issued by TUM and gives access to TUM and LRZ services
IN.TUM (RBG)
- Application: Guest accounts can be requested by selecting the right box in the guest application form below.
- Notes: This account is issued by the RBG from the Computer Science department. It gives access to computer science and other chair specific services.

Steps

1. Register as a Chair Guest

Use the Guest Application Form.

2. Apply for chair services

The following services can be requested through the Guest Application Form:

Wiki Access
Full login to this wiki. The wiki contains information and instructions regarding chair infrastructure. Several sections describe services, how to apply for them and how to use them. Examples are: VM Usage, VPN, etc.
Mailing List
For communication purpose we have a mailing list with all chair members. Also TUM computer science news are shared on this mailing list.
Chair-LAN
The first device can be requested through this form. After completing the guest registration, access for additional devices can be requested via a form in the chair wiki or E-Mail.
Temporary WLAN
A temporary WLAN account can be handed out for a maximum of seven days. For further WLAN usage either a TUM account or an In.TUM account is required.
In.Tum Account
Before an in.tum account can be created additional information is required. This information will be directly handed to the RBG and processed according to their privacy and data guidelines.

Other services can be requested when registered as a guest either through the wiki or via Mail:

VMs can be created to run computations or store datasets, etc.

To request more devices
VPN Access
To connect via VPN to the chair

FAQ

I just want internet and I'm happy.

LAN: Just fill out the guest application form, check the box Chair-LAN and fill out the Chair-Lan Information. After the LAN entry is made you should have access to the internet but only when connected to LAN ports in the chair.
WIFI: For Wifi access you either need a TUM account or an IN.TUM account. With the account credentials you can then connect to the eduroam WIFI network. Credentials can be handed out without any account for short term access, maximum seven days.

What is this Mailing list?

The mailing list has all members of the chair located at the university but also includes guests and working students. Various information is shared as coffee breaks, but also interesting papers/links, conference deadlines, etc. and members on this list also receive faculty (computer science) E-Mails containing information about upcoming events and more.

How long can I use the services/account?

When your visit at the chair ends the RBG account and all services can be terminated at any time (only after you left!). The only account/service you will keep is the TUM account, but you will loose eventually any functional status and only keep the @tum.de mail address with some kind of passive status.

I have no idea. Everything is so complicated!

Ok don't worry. Basically you don't have to do anything. It would be nice if you could fill out the guest application form so we can keep track of who is at the chair. By filling out the form you can additionally request some services if you think you need them. If you have no clue at all you can also ask your contact person at the chair for further advice.
